Is Social Media Hummingbird Mass follow / unfollow software worth your investment?

hummingbird

When I posted the last article about Twitter’s policy of suspending people who do mass follow and un-follow, I received an overwhelming response from readers. The largest response regarded the use of automated applications, especially Hummingbird.  Comments regarding Hummingbird were mostly attacks on the software for being a commercial product which sells for $200 compared to other products that are free. Unfortunately, we did not find any other real technical reasons that would support these attacks.
Is it fair for people to trash a business just because it is not giving something away for free? Should I start giving away my custom web design and my custom SEO for free?

Link Building Takes Time (Inbound Links)

All good webmasters know what it takes to get better search engine rankings. You have to optimize your web pages and you have to get good inbound links (an inbound link is a link that points to your website or web page using specific text and does not have a link back. Today, that is no longer the case. Getting the right links is essential to getting listed on the first page of search engine results.

Normal, acceptable links that will increase your Google rankings

Natural links are links that are related to your website content. For example, if you have a website about Search engine optimization, a totally unrelated link from an acrylic painting website would look odd. The links that point to your website should be from related websites and from sources that would “normally” link to you. For example, it would seem normal for a blog that is dedicated to alternative therapy to link to your massage therapy website. The more related the link, the higher is the rank you will get.

Things to avoid when adding inbound links to your website

1. Do not  always link to the same page.

Most links go to the home page of a website. Overusing the home page link has two drawbacks:

1. Surfers who follow a link expect to be taken immediately to the relevant information. If they do not get what they need instantly, and have to navigate to it after landing on your home page, they will leave your website.

Russian Roulette Or Safe Website Design

In a discussion with a friend last week, she mentioned that she wanted to have a simple and safe website.

Her target clients are those with a higher-end income who could buy her luxury services.  Her definition of simple was disguising the real word, lowest possible cost. She also added she wanted to play it safe since she is just starting her business. She was going to ask a friend who has a hobby of web development to design her new high-end website.

Is designing a low cost website considered a safe way to build your high end business?

To have a successful website you need to have a:
